Rainbow Heir rules in N.J. Breeders Handicap

Rainbow Heir, a 4-year-old colt by Journeyman Stud’s Wildcat Heir, romped to a 12-and-a-half length victory in the $60,000 New Jersey Breeders Handicap on September 6 at Monmouth Park VIDEO

The New Farm homebred set catch-me fractions of :22.71, :45.74, :57.75 in winning the six-furlong test in 1:09.83. Trained by Ben Perkins Jr., Rainbow Heir also won the Teddy Drone Stakes on July 27 at Monmouth and has to date earned $141,750 on the season. A winner of the 2013 Jersey Shore Stakes (G3), Rainbow Heir has career earnings to date of $315,210.

Wildcat Heir, who was the leading Florida sire in 2010, 2011 and 2013, is currently the leading Florida sire with progeny earnings of $4,193,527. He is also currently the second-leading Florida juvenile sire with progeny earnings of $382,061. In 2014, Wildcat Heir is the sire of seven stakes winners, including graded stakes winner Wild Dude.
