Rainbow Heir, a 4-year-old colt by Journeyman Stud stallion Wildcat Heir, romped to an easy victory in the $130,000 Teddy Drone Stakes on Sunday, July 27, at Monmouth Park. VIDEO
With the victory, Rainbow Heir became the seventh stakes winner for Wildcat Heir in 2014.
After breaking well, Rainbow Heir settled in on the rail in the third spot before moving out two wide into second at the half-mile pole. Jockey Angel Serpa urged Rainbow Heir into the lead at the top of the stretch. He never relinquished the lead, winning by three and a half lengths. Impressive fractions for the six furlong test were :21.67, :44.11, :56.33 and 1:09.02. On the season to date, Rainbow Heir has earned $107,550 on two wins in three starts for trainer Ben Perkins Jr.
Bred and raced by New Farm, Rainbow Heir won the 2013 Jersey Shore Stakes (G2) at Monmouth Park. He was also third in the Dave’s Friend Stakes that season. Out of the Prospectors Gamble mare Rainbow Pride, Rainbow Heir has career earnings to date of $281,010.

Wildcat Heir is also the current leading Florida sire by number of stakes winners with seven to date.
