Gentlemen’s Bet Will Stand at Journeyman Stud for 2018

Gentlemen’s Bet, a major stake winner of $744,155 while racing for his owner, Harry T. Rosenblum, has been retired to stud and will stand the 2018 breeding season at Brent and Crystal Fernung’s Journeyman Stud in Ocala, Florida.

Gentlemen’s Bet was a winner in 5 of his first 6 starts and 7 races overall. Among his victories was the $350,000 Frank J. De Francis Memorial Dash S. as well as the Hot Springs Stakes at Oaklawn Park and the $125,000 Iowa Sprint H.  In addition, Gentlemen’s Bet placed in the Grade 1 Breeder’s Cup Sprint, the Grade 1 Alfred G. Vanderbilt H. and the G3, $250,000 Count Fleet Sprint H.

In the Frank J. De Francis, Gentlemen’s Bet defeated Palace, a G1 winner of $1.5 million, Stallwalkin’ Dude, a graded winner of $1.36 million and Trouble Kid, a graded winner of over  $500,000.

Gentlemen’s Bet placed a close up 3rd in the 2013 Breeder’s Cup Sprint. Beaten less than 2 lengths in the Sprint by Secret Circle, Gentlemen’s Bet finished ahead of Champion Sprinter Trinniberg (G1) and graded winners Private Zone (G1), Justin Phillip (G1), The Lumber Guy (G1), Bahamian Squall(G2), Fast Bullet (G2), Majestic Stride (G3) and Sum of the Parts (G3).

Brent Fernung said, “Gentlemen’s Bet is the perfect horse for Florida. He is a big, beautiful, fast horse with a great pedigree. The Frank J. De Francis Stakes has made quite an impact in Florida in the past. Among the winners of that race to go to stud in Ocala are Wildcat Heir, Montbrook and Yes it’s True, arguably the best three stallions to stand in Florida in the past 20 years.”

Sired by Half Ours and one of three foals out of the Gentleman mare, Lady of Sun. Gentlemen’s Bet descends from the family of Grade one winner, Consolidator (by Storm Cat). His stud fee for 2018 will be announced at a later date.
