Daring Kathy Dominates Starfish Bay Stakes

Daring Kathy, a 3-year-old bay filly out of the Kingmambo mare Dare to Mambo, roared to a definitive five-and-a half-length victory while covering the mile and one-sixteenths turf event in 1:42.58 Video

Bred and owned by John Eaton and Steve Laymon, Daring Kathy now has a career record of four win in five starts with career earnings of $180,750. Daring Kathy is trained by David Fawkes.

The Starfish Bay Stakes was the third win in a row and second consecutive stakes win for Daring Kathy. On May 10, she won the $90,000 Honey Ryder Stakes at Gulfstream Park. She was just as impressive in that victory, winning by three and a half lengths. Unraced as a juvenile, Daring Kathy broke her maiden at first asking, winning by four and a quarter lengths in a six furlongs maiden special on January 24 at Gulftream Park. She next visited the winner’s circle after an allowance optional claiming win at seven and a half furlongs on March 29 at Gulfstream Park.

Wildcat Heir, who was the leading Florida sire in 2013, 2011 and 2010. In addition to Daring Kathy, he also the sire of 2014 graded stakes winner Wild Dude and stakes winners Hot Heir Skier, One More Wild Ride and Ramona’s Wildcat.
